Branch Members from Ballyholme, Carnmoney, Cregagh, Holywood and Malone left Belfast by coach for the Sperrins picking up Eglantine, Tandragee and Armagh Group members between Belfast and Armagh. The weather was cold and overcast but dry. Travelling on through Caledon, Aughnacloy and Ballygawley our first stop for the thirty two members and some wives was in Kelly's Inn for coffee or tea and freshly baked scones. We then proceeded to St Columba's, Drumnagh on the hill in Omagh where the Rector, Revd Ian Linton, presided at a service of Holy Communion. This was followed by lunch in the Methodist Church hall. After lunch the coach brought us to the Memorial for those killed in the Omagh bombing, where after short reflection the Rector led us in prayer. |

The coach then brought us to
the Mellon Centre for Migration Studies at the Ulster American Folk Park
where we were welcomed by Christine Johnston, the librarian. She introduced Dr Jonathan Bardon who gave a talk on The Plantation of Ulster in memory of David Hammond, a member of St Finnian's Cregagh. After the talk many of the members availed of the opportunity to visit the Ulster American Folk Park. Leaving the Park we travelled along the Omagh Gortin Road (described by National Geographic as one of the 101 best scenic drives in the world) to the An Creagan visitor Centre for our evening meal. |
